The 15 August 2008 was a very sad day for me, it was a day that my whole world went haywire due to a software problem on a social news community site. The software problem made me a little bit paranoid as I had published an article called "Georgia and Russia, why is there a problem"At a time when the media was being sympathetic to Georgia my article was sympathetic to Russia.

My ability to post and comment hard been restricted on my own column, now I am sure it was a software glitch and not done purposely by the administration of the news community. But I stupidly because I could comment elsewhere on other members column blamed the administration for gagging my comments on my own article. I received a life time ban.

However I am surprised that the news community still kept my articles and my old column still there for its member to see. When they normally delete the total entries when a member is banned, I have thought fact this to be strange.

Of course I being who I am and having the need to publish on the site I really like because of the great debates and with some of the greatest thinkers on the internet. I open a new account using a different IP on a different computer.

Yep I have been deceptive a year or so now, the articles I write are published on two news media sites one with my original name and one as Jesusitshot. I have not changed my style I have not caused any further problems to the community I still write on. I am sure that many of the members of the news community know my old screen name. At a good guess the admin know as well.

This is interesting, jesusitshot. I appreciate your honesty at the moment, but there is a Repeat Infringer Policy.

When you're banned, the idea is that you don't come back.

Seeing as your ban was prior to my tenure, I'm going to quarantine you for the moment - you can comment here in your column but not elsewhere - and go review what happened in August/ask around the office/read the thread here.

That post by jesusitshot on nowpublic.com was ambiguous at best. There's talk of software glitches and a healthy dose of authoritarian paranoia.

It is anything but enlightening.

And the link by Tyler makes it fairly clear that what this guy did is violate U.S. copyright laws at least twice, perhaps more times than that, and was banned for it. Seems pretty straight forward that it's what he did with property that didn't belong to him, as opposed to what he wrote himself.

So...what's the big deal?

But, my question is, why have you been there so long!?

Good question thats hard to really answer other than I really did not want to stop using newsvine as a mouth piece to the world as a citizen journalist and some one that loves debate that can only can take place on the vine because of its nature and the quality of many of the members.

I have never felt comfortable in fooling the administration, but I felt I had to as I am addicted to the vine.

Yesterday something made me realise that because my old column has not been deleted that somebody or some people within the administration valued at least some of my articles enough to leave the column up. I have I think proved that I am not a troll nor anti vine because I received a life time ban. I really like to be honest with people and I am sorry that for a quite a while I felt it right to decieve though my articles have been copied on to my column on nowpublic under my true screen name Babel Fish and elsewhere.

I have declare my real life name of Bob Johnson-Perkins and where I live here on this beautiful tropical Island in the Philippines on many occasions. I have not changed my style or my center point view, it was just the mask of jesusitshot.

But its time to come clean and be honest I maybe an atheist but I do have as most atheist do a set of moral standards that I like to adhere very close too. So its up to you the members and the administration to place me on trial if the administration want to chop my addiction off once more. I will not come back under a new name, nor cause any trouble what so ever. It does not stop my citizen journalist addiction as I have many other places to post my articles, but it would be a sad day for me as its the debate on the vine that to me is the vine biggest attraction.

I hope what ever happens both my old and new columns stay open for members to view. I really fill honored that the Babel Fish column remains.

I doubt that my vote counts here any more that it does in every election. I believe that everybody is entitled to at least one second chance in something like this anyway. I am not anti religion and for the most part don't care what somebodies politics are, but I do understand a News Vine addiction.

Good Ol Babblefish! Glad you are back. I wondered what happened to you. Thought you might just be slacking off like me, but then, you never were a slacker. The paranoia can get us every time. I have had feelings of persecution from time to time but have worked them out either with staff or other on line friends. I had a slight case today when I noticed nothing had shown up in my tracker for several days. Then, I noticed I was not logged in. How that happened I don't know. I never log out. I think someone is spoofing me behind the scenes. I love to blame it on Calvin. This Tyler guy is OK though. He is operating from reason as well as letter of the CoH. Yes, jesusitshot deserves another chance. He's been honest and he's been a great contributor around here. Despite our endless disagreements on basically a singular issue, Babel Fish/jesuitshot has contributed lot of truly interesting ideas.

He actually has more reads at the other site than here in general (even during the Babel Fish period), but he misses the intellectual debate here at Newsvine. Not that the other is less stimulating, just that the debaters got to be here first, perhaps.
